Adjusting with hand-held instruments is much more diverse than just using the Activator. There are a variety of named chiropractic techniques, such as Pierce Technique and Atlas Orthogonal that use motorized instruments to apply a specific forces along specific vectors, to improve the alignment and function of the spine, thus reducing the Vertebral Subluxation Complex.

Antibiotic Use In Infants Linked To Asthma

New research indicates that children who receive antibiotics before their first birthday are significantly more likely to develop asthma by age 7. The study, published in the June issue of CHEST is titled Increased Risk of Childhood Asthma From Antibiotic Use in Early Life.

The risk for asthma doubled in children receiving antibiotics for nonrespiratory infections, as well as in children who received multiple antibiotic courses and who did not live with a dog during the first year.

WFC 10th Biennial Congress. Vive la Chiropratique!

Plan to be in Montreal for the World Federation of Chiropractic’s 10th Biennial Congress, co-sponsored by The Canadian Chiropractic Association incorporating WFC’s and FCER’s International Conference on Chiropractic Research to be held at the outstanding convention facilities at the Hilton Bonaventure Hotel from April 30 – May 02, 2009.

The congress theme is “Celebrating Chiropractic in the 21st Century” and there will be strong content on each of the science, philosophy and art of chiropractic. Mornings of this three-day conference will feature plenary lecture sessions, afternoons will feature a choice of many concurrent technique workshops and other panels and presentations, including the best new original research from the profession worldwide.

Federal Judge Rules in Favor of Chiropractic in Brazil

March 19, 2009 — In the latest step by the Brazilian Chiropractors’ Association (ABQ) to defend the chiropractic profession against efforts by the physiotherapy profession to have chiropractic declared a specialty of physiotherapy (PT), Federal Judge Diana Brunstein has ruled strongly in favor of the ABQ.

Chiropractic is a profession not a technique, says Judge Brunstein, and PT authorities should not seek to declare it a specialty of physiotherapy. An appeal by CREFITO, the regulatory body for PT in the State of Sao Paulo, asking to remove an earlier court injunction against CREFITO, was denied. (more…)

ACA, NCLAF Join Forces to Fight National Blue Cross Blue Shield Association Policy Change

The American Chiropractic Association (ACA), in coordination with the National Chiropractic Legal Action Fund (NCLAF), has initiated an “all fronts” response to the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association’s (BC/BSA) Jan. 1 policy change that removed doctors of chiropractic from the classification of “physician” in the Blue Cross Blue Shield Federal Employees Health Benefits Plan (BC/BS FEP).
