The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) today announced that it is one of several content partners participating in Sharecare, a new Web site created by Internet entrepreneur Jeff Arnold, the originator of WebMD, and Dr. Mehmet Oz, a leading cardiac surgeon, health expert and host of “The Dr. Oz Show,” along with Harpo Studios, HSW International, Sony Pictures Television and Discovery Communications.

From ACA, to the American Red Cross, the American Diabetes Association, John’s Hopkins Medicine, and others, Sharecare is bringing together the top minds in health care to provide consumers with multiple perspectives within a single Web site dedicated to improving health. The site will arm patients with more information about their health care options and empower them to make better choices.

Sharecare is an interactive, social Q&A platform designed to greatly simplify the search for quality health care information. Its mission is to answer the world’s questions of health and achieve a collective wisdom by developing a comprehensive database of all of the questions of health and wellness and then actively recruiting industry experts to answer them. Leading physicians, nurses, hospitals, clinics, authors, health care companies and non-profits connect, interact and share their collective expertise, encouraging consumers to ask, learn and act upon questions of health.

“Sharecare is a new and exciting way to help educate patients and encourage them to discover chiropractic care,” said ACA President Rick McMichael, DC. “Visitors will be delighted to learn about the chiropractic approach to health care, which is wellness-focused, patient-centered, conservative and whole person. Chiropractic physicians offer approaches to health and wellness that can complement or provide alternatives to medication or surgery.”

In addition to FAQs and other information about chiropractic care, visitors to ACA’s Sharecare profile page (www.sharecare.com/group/aca) will find a link to the association’s Find-a-Doc search tool, enabling them to locate ACA members in their local area.

“A partnership between ACA and Sharecare is a natural fit,” said Donna Hill Howes, senior vice president, Sharecare. “By bringing together the full spectrum of health care disciplines on an expert social QA platform to facilitate conversations about health, Sharecare is creating an environment that will foster innovation within the health care community. We are thrilled to feature the chiropractic profession’s perspective on health and wellness.”
