Pingbacks, Tweets, and Referrals, Oh My!
We are asking that our readers please use the actual address (or URL) of our posts (for example, https://atlas.chiro.org/?p=3413 ) when you make a Tweet, or otherwise mention one of our articles in any form of social media.
Search engines do not count shortened URLs as real traffic to our site, because their software does not track them to the final destinations. All you do is raise the Stats for Tiny or Bit.
So, if you are interested in supporting our website, and increasing our standing with the search engines, please use the full URL address to our materials. Thank you!
Thank you for posting this because I had no idea shortened URLs, like bit.ly don’t count according to Google and other search engines. I will now try to only shorten my really long Url’s in my tweets. Thanks again!

Oh, it does count, but all it does is raise the stats for Bit or Tiny, not the website you are Tweeting. UGH!
Thanks for letting me know that! I have been tweeting a lot of articles and assuming the stats for those links would get tracked! Now I know! Great post keep them coming!
Thanks Frank! I will make sure to use the whole URL when possible. I know I have tweeted or posted some links to this blog and may have shortening them.
Thanks again!
Doug
Will do!
